Integrity is not a place, it is a practice that is fought for day by day. When you lead in ministry your integrity is always questioned. When you depend on others to do what they say, and your plans or payments are based upon them…good honest people, who don’t do what they said they would. And now your word, judgment and integrity is in question. Have you ever been there? Well that was my week, it’s OK, because God does do what He says, and in Him is my hope and trust.
His integrity goes beyond anything we can muster here. He is Holy, Holy, Holy. Our challenge, is that He told us to be Holy as He is Holy. Wow! Can’t do that one on my own. The only way possible is to lean on the Holy One, who lives in me, Jesus Christ. The bible says Jesus is the Hope of Glory. We can trust and hope in His ability to bring us through the questionable moments to a place that gives God Glory. Those tests of our integrity; will we exaggerate or successes and minimize our failings? Will we not speak up, when someone misrepresents us positively? We are quick to defend ourselves, but how about accurately, transparently displaying our weaknesses? How about not defending ourselves?
Only in Christ can we walk this out correctly. Jesus never amplified or diminished what He was feeling, what was true or what was wrong.
Think about that for a moment, how many times have we done that in the last few days?
Dear Jesus help us to be faithful, truthful, and holy in all of our dealings. Help us to face difficult situations. Even those we do not have the answer, ability or money to solve. Thank you, that you are our source not just of provision, but of truth. Help us to be Holy as you are Holy. In your name. Amen.
